Bio
Francisca Rodrigues is a biologist and science communicator whose career has developed at the interface between scientific research and public engagement. She is currently completing her Master's Degree in Science Communication at the University of Minho, building on a Master's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology and Plant Bioentrepreneurship (2022) and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (2019).
Her professional path spans plant science research, science communication, visual and institutional design, digital content production, and science event organisation, having worked with InnovPlantProtect, CMEMS – University of Minho, Ryp Labs, and FCUP's Communication Office. She is co-author of 4 articles published in Q1 journals. During her Master's, she co-organised the IV Jornadas de Comunicação de Ciência, and she has supported major outreach events such as Mostra UP and Dias Abertos FCUP. She is currently a Research Intern on the DSeaM – Deep-sea Minding project, contributing to the analysis of how the deep sea is represented in science, education and society, and to the development of open educational resources and teacher-training actions that bring deep-sea topics into school curricula.
She works in the fields of Biology and Science Communication, with an emphasis on plant science, environmental and science education, and public engagement through visual and editorial design.
