Degree: Master
Bio
I graduated in Bioengineering in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) with specialization in Molecular Biotechnology, in 2020. As a Master student, I worked at i3S- Intituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde where I developed my Master thesis on Konjac photocrosslinked hydrogels, for in vitro 3D cell culture. For the last two years, I have been working in the Biofilm Engineering Laboratory (BEL) of LEPABE (Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environmental, Biotechnology and Energy) and Institute of Molecular Sciences/Center for Research in Chemistry of the University of Porto (IMS/CIQUP), Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as Research Fellow (developing microparticles with antimicrobial properties) under the scope of PRESAGE – “Potential of decentralized wastewater treatment for preventing the spread of antibiotic resistance”, European project. Throughout my short scientific career, I have published 2 peer-reviewed papers (all of them as first author) and participated in an international conference. Recently, I was at the University of Santiago de Compostela to set-up and operate a reactor for the disinfection of wastewater generated in an office building at Vigo (assessing its effects on pathogen inactivation and organic micropollutants). At the begging of this year, I became enrolled on the Ph.D. program of Chemical and Biological Engineering at FEUP.
