Bio

Rui started his academic journey in 2015 in the University of Porto, where he obtained a BSc (2018) and MSc (2020) in Biochemistry by the Faculty of Sciences and Instituto Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar. In 2021 started his PhD in the Doctoral Program In Chemistry by the University of Porto, focused on the development of temperature sensitive hybrid hydrogels for the treatment of skin-cancer. He has an interest in physical chemistry, self-assembled colloidal systems, drug-delivery, biochemistry, and nanotechnology. Rui is proficient in a wide variety of experimental techniques such as: polarized light and fluorescence microscopy, rheology, fluorimetry, dynamic and electrophoretic light scattering, differential scanning calorimetry, surface tension measurements, and cell culture. He has a genuine interest in sharing his scientific research with the scientific community and thus has participated in a number of national and international scientific conferences, presenting posters and flash communications. Rui has also co-authored a research paper entitled “Stimuli Sensitive Nanotubules Based on Lysine Derivatives for Delivery of Antimicrobial Proteins” Additionally, he has also participated in several activities aiming to share scientific knowledge with high school students to foment their interest in scientific research.
